Woven Throw Patchwork Quilt: Beginners course
Learn to stitch a patchwork quilt on your sewing machine. Everything is covered from cutting the fabric to stitching a quilt top and how to quilt and bind it. Perfect for someone just starting out into the world of patchwork, The design looks like a woven fabric, hence the quilts name. The ‘weft’ fabric adds some coordination to the quilt, and gives it a striking woven like appearance.

Block size: 8in x 6in finished
Please bring a packed lunch, but tea and brownies are included. Two examples of the quilt you will make are in our shop, so please come and have a look and a feel for extra inspiration!

One Jelly Roll

42 strips of fabric cut across the width of the fabric, 2 1/2in wide

2.75m total fabric

21 x 5in fabric strips WofF
OR
11x 10in fabric strips WofF
‘Weft’ Fabric: 1m*
Backing: 3.5m
Batting/Wadding: 64in x 79in
Binding: 50cm*
*If you can use the same print for these parts of the quilt as it helps give the top a co-ordinated look.
Equipment
Sewing machine, with a 1/4in patchwork piecing foot
Rotary Cutter, large mat and ruler (24” x 6”, and a smaller one if you have it)
Sewing thread to blend with fabrics
Basic sewing kit
