A new class exploring the traditional Japanese mending techniques of Sashiko and Boro. ‘Boro’ means ‘rags’ or ‘tattered cloth’, referring to Japanese patched and much-mended textiles, often held together with simple running stitches (Sashiko) and so creating a new art form in itself. Reverse appliqué is a different way of producing a design with a hidden fabric.
