"This quilt brings such happy memories to me of a winter day in Rye, East Sussex with my dear friends Judy and Jenny (from Pincushion). After a scrumptious lunch at the obligatory 'incredibly old' pub (beams of timber and panelling non-negotiable when choosing an English eatery) we kept strolling through the ancient streets. I photographed an entrance to a dark, brick paved, winding laneway; the name above the doorway Farthing House Needles Passage charmed me… and I carried those words, and of course the photo's I took of the Tudor walls, slightly curving in as the passage wound toward Farthing House, in my heart for the next 12 months, knowing that something lovely would arise from those memories. And that it would probably be a quilt.'-Margaret Mew
